Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers are on many menus! Most are deep-fried & served with Ranch. Some are stuffed with cheddar & some with cream cheese. (We prefer BOTH!) Most stuffed peppers are breaded. Although, I know of one recipe that rolls a strip of bacon around the pepper then bakes!
Jalapeno Peppers are Marvelous in nearly Everything! So, it’s no wonder we love to eat them all by their lonesome! But we also like to dress ours up! While Ranch is an acceptable dip, and we use it all the time, we have something special for our Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers! #JalapenoPoppers
Ingredients:
- 6 (we use somewhat smaller) Fresh Jalapeno Peppers
- 2 – 3 Strips of Bacon Cooked & Crumbled OR ¼ Cup Bacon Pieces
- ½ Cup Shredded Cheese (We like Pepper Jack or Cheddar – you choose)
- 2 Teas. Minced Garlic
- ¼ Cup Minced Green Onion (@ 2 onions)
- 4 Oz. Cream Cheese – Softened
- Puff Pastry (one sheet)
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tbsp. Water
- Parmesan Cheese (a few tbsp.)
- Red Jalapeno Jelly (We like the RED one!)
So, Let’s HEAT Up the Kitchen with our
Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers!
Split the jalapenos in half. Clean out the insides, wash and allow to dry. You can also pat them dry with a paper towel.
Combine the bacon, shredded cheese, garlic, green onion & softened cream cheese. It takes @ 2 -3 teas. of the cheese mixture to fill each pepper. Once the peppers are filled, we get the dough ready.
So, heat your oven to 400. You’ll also need a lightly floured surface. If you have a silicone mat with measurements, those work wonderfully! Roll the puff pastry into a 10×12 rectangle. As Goldilocks says, “This dough is too thick! This dough is too thin!” But, we’ve found This measurement works Just Right!
Now, I can’t tell you the dimensions of the squares you need to cut! Because it all depends on your jalapeno peppers! So, you want to cut a square that is ½ inch bigger than the diagonally placed pepper. (Just like the picture above.) Once your squares are cut, place the stuffed peppers’ cheese side DOWN.
You’ll want to have your baking sheet ready for your Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers now. Parchment paper is my preference due to ease of clean up! If you don’t use parchment paper, you will need a non-stick pan or a light spray of cooking oil.
Now we need to tuck our peppers in! Take each puff pastry corner and bring them together. Then tuck the ends in. Lightly press the dough together. Then turn them over & place them on your cookie sheet. #Bacon
Once all of your peppers have been tucked in, whip your egg & 1 Tbsp of water. Coat your Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers with your egg wash. Then, lightly sprinkle some Parmesan cheese over them.
Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers Ready for the Oven!
Bake for @ 17 minutes. They should be golden brown. You will probably want to try one right away! But it’s best to let them cool just a bit! We recommend at least 5 minutes! While you are waiting for them to cool, go ahead and open that Red Jalapeno Jelly! If you’ve never tried it before, maybe start with one tablespoon. Use a microwave save bowl and add ½ tablespoon of water to your One tablespoon of Red Jalapeno Jelly. It will only need about 15 seconds. Stir and it’s ready!
Once you dip that Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Pepper into the Red Jalapeno Jelly, you will never go back to ranch dip! Not that we have anything against Ranch! We Love it & eat/dip it All the Time! Another little note: You may have extra dough leftover. There is always something you can do with Extra Puff Pastry Dough. We like making Appetizers with Puff Pastry. This Page will give you some ideas.
Speaking of Appetizers, our Pastry Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers recipe is very easy to double up especially if you need to feed a group….
So, if these fit right into your party plans, maybe some Free Fine Wine will fit in too! This page will explain all the details! There is nothing better than a party for sharing Fine Wine AND a business or hobby opportunity!
