Gummie Pup Paws

Gummie Pup Paws

These Gummie Pup Paws & Bones are excellent as Training treats! Because they are small! And they get gobbled up immediately! That way we can get right back to training without the distraction & time it takes to chew a larger treat! Do you know why it is important to keep distractions OUT of your training session? Because Dogs are just like Humans. They can be easily distracted & forget the importance of what they are learning……….

But let’s be clear. Treats are not the only way we reinforce great behavior. As the girls have learned our signals & commands, we don’t need to reward our pups with food. But then there are times they deserve a little something extra! Like after grooming sessions or a visit to the vet! We recognize that these are stressful events for our girls. So, they both deserve that bonus treat. And on a Human Note: Thank Goodness for our Pet Insurance those vet visits can cost an arm & a leg!

Gummie Pup Paws & Bones 4 Training

Too Cute For Words

Have you ever had a dog that anticipates your every move & command? Well, our Tilly does just that! I don’t need to say a word. As soon as I’m heading to the pantry door, she does all her tricks. Her bottom hits the floor. She will even dance in place. If I raise my hand with the palm facing the floor, she immediately sprawls flat on the floor. One little roll with my hand & she rolls over. Now, you tell me. Could you ignore that? Doesn’t she deserve a treat? Yes! Of course, she does! #LoveMyPet

But I don’t always give her FOOD. Sometimes she gets a full body rub down. Then there are times she just receives lavish praise!

There is NO Guilt in giving out treats when obedience training your dog. Just mix it up so he or she doesn’t EXPECT the treat. But when you are first starting to train with a new command, use the treat as an inducement for the behavior you wish to see from your dog. But as SOON as your dog acts on your command, you change up the rewards!

Again, Dogs are just like Humans. Likewise, they LOVE being rewarded for a job well done! But Hugs, Cuddles, Body Rubs, Lavish Praise & going on A Walk are some of the BEST Rewards! Both our Girls Love Squeaky toys. Of course, they especially love a game of catch with those same toys! Toys & Play are another Awesome Reward! And We LOVE all the Choices we find at our Favorite Pet Store!

There is another reason to mix up your rewards! Because most Treats are High in Calories!

So, Make some Gummie Pup Paws & Bones!

What You Need:

  • Silicon Molds
  • Medium Saucepan
  • 2 Cups Liquid
  • 4 Tbs. Beef Gelatin
Gummie Pup Paws

We use silicone molds in the shapes of bones & paw prints. They are so adorable & also make awesome little gift bags! We use 4 molds for this recipe. The Pawprint mold is 4×8 inches with a count of 10 paws. The Tiny Bones are 6×9 inches with a count of 18 bones.

We usually mix Carrot juice & Beef Stock for the liquid. The Girls just eat these up! But you can use other types of juice, broth, or stock.

Carrot & Apple Juice are both safe for dogs. Just make sure they have NO Added Sugars! Also, be careful HOW MANY gummies you give your dog….. Too many at one time may cause the runs! And NEVER use Grape juice. Grapes are toxic for dogs, no matter how they may love them!

You can even forgo the juice & only use bone broth or stock. They are both safe & healthy for our dogs! The collagen within the broth is excellent for joint health. Bone broth also contains an amino acid (glycine) that helps detox our pup’s kidneys & livers.

Sure, the Collagen in the beef gelatin gets broken down as it is ingested. But there are studies that have shown a reduction in inflammation, swelling, & joint pain when gelatin is consumed. Of course, gelatin may not be enough when your best friend is in pain. But even though she may Live with Chronic Pain, we want her to be able to live her Best Life! So, sometimes more supplements are needed.

Furthermore, these gummies may assist in soothing an upset tummy, entice picky eaters & even combat dehydration or diarrhea! Just ask your vet!

So Ready, Set, Get Cookin’

We suggest having your molds on a wire rack that will easily fit in your refrigerator. But any tray or movable flat surface (like a cutting board) will work. This way it’s easier to transfer your filled molds without them flopping around……. And SPILLING!

Ok! Now we are READY! Bring the Juice & Broth to a mild boil. Then just allow it to cool for about 3 – 5 minutes. You want your liquid to be very Warm but not so hot it will melt your silicone molds! Now, just whip the beef gelatin into the juice/broth. Once it is completely dissolved, transfer it to your molds.

We use a small ladle to spoon the mixture into the molds. Voila! Now, it just needs to solidify! These are very small & take less than 2 hours to be ready!
