Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness

A Pink Ribbon & Breast Cancer Awareness…. Everyone sees this Pink Ribbon & they know it stands for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer

My Pink Ribbon Story……

But every time I see a Pink Ribbon, it doesn’t just mean Cancer Awareness. Because, for me, it’s all about this one spectacular person! I had this Remarkable Aunt that was a Magnet. What do I mean? How was she a Magnet? Everyone Loved Her! There wasn’t anyone who didn’t want to be around her. She was Always Fun. There was Always a Smile on her face. If you didn’t know her past or situation, you NEVER knew what she had gone through. As she was 30+ years older than me & the worst of her tragedy happened when I was very young, I was not aware of her past.

As I grew older, I would overhear some things but still did not truly have a clue! There were things & people “of-which-we-did-not-speak”! As a kid, all I knew was She was the Best Aunt Ever! And she NEVER changed. She was Always Happy & a Ton of Fun to be around! #CancerWarrior

Then versus now….

Once upon a time, medicine was not as advanced as it is today…

When my aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, she underwent chemotherapy. But she also had both of her breasts removed And NO reconstructive surgery.

At this same time in her life, her husband left her for another woman. She was not only a woman going through a horrible personal physical experience but also a truly heart-wrenching spiritual experience. To top that off, she became a SINGLE mother of 2. This was not at a time when you could turn to support enforcement either! So, she also held down her job!

But I didn’t know all this about her as I was growing up! All I knew was that I LOVED when we visited her or she came to visit us! She was so much FUN! And her laughter was so contagious!

There is no way I can convey the meaning a Pink Ribbon & Breast Cancer Awareness affects me today….

Support A Pink Ribbon & Breast Cancer Awareness.

There are many companies that support Great Causes. Still, others won’t allow their employees to show support. Even if it’s as simple as wearing a Pink T-shirt!

Breast Cancer is a Serious Disease! Sure, some Breast cancers are absolutely curable! But that also has to do with catching this vicious disease in its early stages. If you know anyone that has undergone treatment, you KNOW this “cure” is a long & difficult journey! Consequently, it’s not just the physical body it affects! It also plays havoc with your mind & your Worth as a Woman! #CancerWarrior

Additionally, some breast cancers are not “as easily” curable. Just as any cancer, breast cancer can & does spread to other parts of the body!

Around 20 Percent of those diagnosed with Breast Cancer DIE of THIS Disease!

My Aunt did not Die of this disease. She Fought the Battle & Won that WAR! She couldn’t win the war on age, but she remains my inspiration to Enjoy Each Day to its Fullest!

Unfortunately, not all of my loved ones have Won this terrible War. But there are those that still fight the battle to find the cure, so that others may Win!

Breastcancer.org states that 1 in 8 women will develop INVASIVE breast cancer in her lifetime.

According to Breast cancer statistics & resources, there were over 2 Million NEW cases of Breast cancer reported in 2018.

It is estimated that over 276,480 New INVASIVE cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2020 with an additional 48,530 non-invasive cases added to that number.

And Men, it is not only Women that are affected! It is expected that around 2,620 cases of invasive breast cancer will occur in MEN!

The wonderful news is that earlier detection has helped decrease fatalities from this atrocious disease. And medical science continues to develop advances in treatment.

But It can still cost upwards of $100,000 to treat an “average” case of breast cancer. Consequently, for an advanced case, the cost would be closer to $300,000….
