Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

These Peanut Butter Dog Cookies are so good, you might be tempted to eat One, or 2…… Unless the added flavor of chicken or beef broth makes you change your mind….

Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

Here’s what you need:

  • 4 Cups Oat Flour
  • 2 Egg
  • 2 Cups Bone Broth or Stock
  • 1 Cup Pup-Safe Peanut Butter
  • ¼ Cup Coconut Oil

Mix the Egg, Peanut butter, Broth (or Stock) & Coconut Oil. Then, add in the flour. Dust your countertop with Flour & roll out the dough. Use plenty of flour. It’s Quite Sticky! The grandkids love deciding which cookie cutters will be used. (Because you know that is super important to the dogs!) Then we use a spatula to help us scrape the cut-out cookie dough off the counter. We also use parchment paper on our baking sheets, just because it’s easier to clean up! Now, bake for about 20 minutes. (The thicker the cookie – the longer they need to bake.)

Bake at 350° for @ 20 min.

If this Recipe is TOO Much – you can split the recipe in ½………………………

You will NOT want to store these cookies in the Pantry! They do NOT contain any preservatives. So, they don’t last long without refrigeration. But they are GREAT to Freeze! They also make wonderful little gift bags for all your puppy buddies!

SAFE Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

Remember, you are NOT making these cookies for humans! If you were, you would more than likely put baking powder or soda in this recipe. You do NOT need it. More importantly, your pup Really Does NOT need it. Baking powder, soda & even yeast can cause tummy problems for your dog, including seizures, heart problems & spasms.

It’s also really important that you know what’s in your Peanut Butter. Too many brands contain Xylitol. This is an artificial sweetener. But, while it might be fine for humans (although large amounts can cause gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea), it is definitely NOT fine for dogs! Even digesting small amounts can cause a dog extreme low blood sugar, seizures, liver failure &, in the worst-case scenario, death. It’s just as important to make sure your peanut butter does NOT contain palm oil. Palm oil is highly toxic to dogs. This ingredient can also lead to nausea, loose bowels, extreme dehydration, and death.

The BEST Peanut Butter Dog Cookies……..

The Best Peanut Butter Dog Cookies contain Peanut Butter that is free of Sugar, Xylitol, Salt, Hydrogenated Oils, or Preservatives! But an Awesome Ingredient that your Dog Does Want & NEED is Flaxseed! Because Flaxseed actually contains Omega Fatty Acids. Fatty Acids are needed for healthy skin & coat. But they are also important for immunity, growth & reproduction. But the most essential Fatty Acid for a dog is Omega-6 fatty Linoleic Acid! And Flaxseed contains a huge amount of this fatty acid!

Another excellent ingredient in our pup’s cookies is Coconut oil! This oil is very nutrient-dense. You can even apply it to a dog’s skin & it’s OK if they lick it! But, more importantly, as an oral supplement, it may help relieve dry itchy skin, allergies, & even eradicate fleas & ticks! Coconut Oil also boosts your pup’s immune system, helps fight against fungal infections, and improves digestion. As a dog ages, coconut oil can be beneficial for cognitive function, treating arthritis & joint issues, not to mention, increasing Energy!

Of course, coconut oil is known for making hair & fur extra shiny & healthy. But did you know it also helps cure Bad Breath?

But How Much is Too Much?

While Coconut Oil is safe for dogs there could be the chance that a puppy is allergic to it. So, it is a good idea to start with a very small amount at first. Once you’ve determined that your dog is NOT allergic to coconut, you still don’t want to give TOO Much to your pet!

Of course, you should always ask the advice of your veterinarian. For our small dogs (under 15 pounds) the recommendation is ¼ Teas per Day. So, our equation was as follows: ¼ teas. per serving & this recipe makes 48 cookies = ¼ Cup (12 Teaspoons)
