My Irish Cream Trifle Mousse is just a way of putting my favorites (Irish Cream & Cream Puffs) Together. Of course, there are a few different ways you can make this delicious dessert. But whatever way you create your masterpiece, it is sure to bring happiness to those that get to eat it!
A Trifle dessert seems to have originated in Scotland back in the 1500s! So, it must be super wonderful, right? Since it’s still around? But in the 1700s, England adopted it & had all kinds of names for this perfect confection. For instance: the Tipsy Parson or Tipsy Squire…… Makes me wonder if they fed this sweet to the clergy on purpose……. #Trifle
But you can make this treat Your Way!
If you’re going for a traditional trifle, you’ll want 3 – 4 layers. If you truly follow the custom, then you start with a large clear round glass pedestal bowl. Your bottom layer is saturated cake. Then you add the fruit, then custard, whipped cream, and repeat. Lastly, the Top should be decorated with whipped cream & topped with fruit….
You can choose any flavor of cake. Your cake can also be soaked in juice, liquor, wine, or nothing at all. It could even be sponge cake, cookies, brownies, or cream puffs! The Fruit layer can be any kind & you can add jams or jellies too. The next layer could be a combination of pudding, custard, whipped cream, or even frosting.
So, you see how you can make your very own Amazing Trifle Recipes?
Typically, I make this in individual 8 oz. high ball glasses or even goblets. This way, each person has their very own beautiful creation. And it just works out better when it comes to the difficulties in sharing…
Let me share my Irish Cream Trifle Mousse recipe with you………
What you’ll need:
6 – 8 glasses
8-10 Frozen Cream Puffs – cut in half
2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream (1 Cup for Pudding mix & 1 Cup for Whipped Cream)
1 Cup + 1 Teas. (Cold) Irish Cream
1 3.9 oz. Chocolate Fudge Pudding mix
¼ Cup Powdered Sugar
The only reason we cut the Cream puffs in ½ is the ease of eating… You can also choose another flavor of pudding. Chocolate Fudge, of course, is the BEST. But along with Irish Cream, this makes one heck of a RICH dessert!
Most stores sell frozen cream puffs. But you can also make your own homemade cream puffs. (Recipe Right Here.) We tend to make a batch & keep them in the freezer. That way I’ve always got a go-to emergency dessert. You know, you really should be prepared for any emergency situation! #Mousse

Mix your next layer together……. We like to call this our Irish Whipped Topping. (We’ve also been known to make extra because it goes great in coffee or hot cocoa!) Whip the remaining 1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream, powered Sugar & 1 Teas. Cold Irish Cream together. Continue to robustly whisk this cream mixture until peaks form.
Now, you just layer it in….. We start with a couple of cream puffs, add in some pudding, then whipped Irish cream, then repeat! Be sure to refrigerate to firm up. But it doesn’t take long….. Just in time to eat dinner then TADA Fabulous Dessert!
You can always dust the top with some chocolate curls, powered chocolate & even decorate with a pirouette too.
