These Homemade Carrot Dog Treats are better than anything you can buy at a store. Because we Bake them with LOVE. And you know your puppy can taste the difference!
Are you wondering if Carrots are Good for Dogs? Yep! This is one of the veggies that is not only safe, but it’s also healthy & low in calories. Did you know that carrots offer an excellent source of beta-carotene that the body converts into Vitamin A? That’s not all. Carrots are also a source of Potassium, Calcium & Vitamin K. These vitamins are thought to lower diabetes risk. But they are also important for bone health.
Furthermore, did you know Chewing is actually good for a dog’s dental health? Your vet might even suggest giving your dog a big carrot as a chew toy. Ask your vet if your teething puppy could have a frozen carrot…. After all, you’d rather NOT have your shoes nibbled on……
Make these Easy Homemade Carrot Dog Treats
- 6 Cups Organic Whole Grain Oat Flour
- 1 Can (15 oz) Organic Pure Pumpkin Puree
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Cup Organic Grated or Chopped Carrots
- ¼ Cup Broth or Stock (Beef or Chicken)
Whip the Pumpkin, Eggs, Carrots & Stock Together. Once your mixture is completely combined, add in the flour a bit at a time. Once your dough is well & truly mixed, dust your countertop with sufficient flour so it won’t stick to the surface. Now all you’ve got to do is roll out the dough, choose your shapes & pop them into the oven!
Bake at 375° For @ 20 Min. If your treats are extra-thick, you may want to bake longer……..
This recipe is also easily cut in ½ if that’s just too much dough for you.
Once your Homemade Carrot Dog Treats are cooled, they need to be refrigerated or frozen. We love to make up these cookies & freeze a bunch. Then every few days, we take out just enough to last several days. But even then, we keep them under refrigeration. After all, without all those preservatives, our treats won’t last Years like the ones you can buy at a store…. #CarrotDogTreat
Dogs Want & Need to Chew……
Have you ever had to refinish a piece of furniture because the dog had chewed on it? Well, that happened! Many years ago… There was a hope chest that sat at the end of our bed. One night we heard this weird noise. But whenever we tried to figure out what that sound was, the noise stopped! The next morning, we realized that it was Mutt gnawing on the corners of the chest! Well, suffice it to say, even after sanding & refinishing, this hope chest was never quite the same. But we learned a valuable lesson!!!
So, you can give your pups raw or frozen carrots. But make sure to speak with your vet about how many & what size is best for Your Dog! Most dogs will benefit from chewing on a whole carrot. They receive all those vitamins & nutrients without high calory intake. And they are able to fulfill the need to CHEW ….
Dogs tend to chew for many reasons. They might be anxious or bored. But it’s just as likely to be because Chewing is Fun! Of course, it could also be because they are trying to escape. But hopefully, that is a rare occurrence. Truthfully, we WANT our dogs to Chew! And chew often! This action keeps their jaws strong & cleans their teeth!
Comfort for our Best Friends
Our Yorkie, Tilly cannot stand the sight of a suitcase. If I don’t keep my eyes on her, & the closet door is open, there she goes! And there my shoes go…… It may be very seldom that we get a suitcase out, but she has Never Forgotten what that suitcase indicates. It didn’t even matter that she was spoiled rotten by her puppy sitter…. She Hates Suitcases!
So, we make sure both our babies have plenty of chew toys. Of course, we also provide snuggly toys too. This PAGE will provide more details about where & why we shop for Pet Toys & Accessories.
Consequently, our Westie, Sophie really has a hard time when we leave her. It doesn’t matter if I’m only going into the garage to get something. If I even open that door, she immediately thinks I might be leaving! And she heads for her basket of toys. She even watches TV while snuggling with her favorite toy….
But sometimes we know one or the other of our babies are not feeling well. When that happens, it means a trip to the vet. So, we are so thankful for our Pet Insurance. Take a look at THIS Page for more details about Who & Why we insure our Pets with this company.
Over the years, we’ve had a few pets. It wasn’t too long ago we knew it wouldn’t be long & our oldest would cross the Rainbow Bridge. But before that happened, thankfully, we were able to reduce her pain & anxiety. This Page will share more details with You.
But just one last thing… We really should share (and not be selfish) … We love to relax each night with our babies while watching a favorite show And Earn… Of course, the Free Wine doesn’t hurt. So, why not jump over to This Page & see how you can earn while watching TV… And don’t forget to check out This Page to Earn Your Free Wine too……
