Smokin’ Red Hot Cookies are a Cinnamon Lovers’ Dream come true!!!
Have your Cookie & Red-Hot Candies all rolled into One Treat! Yummy, Yum, Yum!!
All you need….. for Your Smokin’ Red Hot Cookies….
- 5.5 oz. Box of Red Hots
- ½ Cup Butter
- 8 oz. Cream Cheese
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Teas. Vanilla
- 2 Eggs
- ½ Teas. Salt
- ½ Teas. Baking Powder
- ¼ Teas. Baking Soda
- 3 Cups Flour
“Suggested” Extra items for Decorating….
- Powdered Sugar
- Plain Sugar
- More Crushed Red Hots……
First, grab a good-sized bowl. If you’re like me, you want to grab a microwaveable bowl… Then you can soften your Cream Cheese & Butter in the same bowl you’ll be mixing all this yummy goodness in….
Now that your Butter & Cream Cheese is all nice & soft, mix in the Sugar, Vanilla & Eggs….
Since you grabbed such a nice size bowl, you can go ahead & add in all that Flour, Salt, Baking Powder & Baking Soda. ** One little tip… I use my measuring cup that holds 4 Cups… Then, I add in the Salt, Soda & Powder right in the same cup along with the 3 cups of Flour, stir & ready to go…. Consequently, I did not dirty another bowl…. And, Finally, just mix the dry ingredients into the buttery sugary mixture…..
Now, that we’ve mixed almost everything up for our Smokin’ Red Hot Cookies, we need to Crush Those Red Hots!!!
Now, we Love, lOve, LoVe our Cuisinart food processor for just about everything…. So, it makes crushing our Red Hots very easy… If you don’t have a food processor, a Vitamixer or a hammer will also work….. The ONLY thing bad about crushing all these Red Hots is the Noise…. ** Another little tip: You don’t need to crush them into dust… You CAN leave some chunks… Also, if you want to use some of the dust for decorating, be sure to put a little aside BEFORE you mix in all those crushed Red Hots into your dough….

Ready to Bake our Smokin’ Red Hot Cookies….
If you haven’t already done so, go ahead & heat up your oven to 350°. While the oven is heating up, we get our dough all rolled into balls… It’s up to you how small or how large you want your cookies… We use a tablespoon. Because our tribe really Loves, lOves, LoVes these cookies…
Now, we all have our opinions about which items is best to roll our dough in… So, typically, we roll some in powdered sugar, some in sugar, & Last, but not least…. We roll some in Crushed Red-Hot dust…. Are they gorgeous? And they taste Better than they look!!!!
Now, that we’ve worked so hard to make these Smokin’ Red Hot Cookies, it’s time to recuperate!!! So, we are sitting down with a glass of our Priscilla Sparkling Rose… So Yummy! By the Way, do you know how old Cinnamon is? Or, how about where it comes from?
Cinnamon was imported as early as 2000 BC. But there was a lot of confusion around Cinnamon’s arrival…. And Where it came from…. Maybe that is why Cinnamon was so highly prized. Many individuals cherished this spice so much that they kept the source a SECRET from the rest of the world. Hence, this condiment was considered an offering fit for a King, Queen, or even a God! Of course, it didn’t hurt that it was SO Yummy!
But back to where it comes from…. Cinnamon comes from scraping off the inner bark of a tree! Of course, you need to scrape from the correct tree! Seriously. It really comes from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum trees… These trees & scrubs have very aromatic oils in their leaves & bark!!
It’s no wonder that the word “cinnamon” came from “cassia” in Latin which is defined as “to strip off bark”…. And in more modern European languages, the word “canel” from the word “cannella” or “canna” is defined as “Tube”… Just like the bark dries up & Curls!! And now we have Cinnamon Sticks!
